Sitecore Symposium 2019 was a big hit, which held at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, Orlando, FL. There are lots of articles roaming around with the highlights, product updates and what happened at Sitecore Symposium. These are the few key notes I found.
- Sitecore AI, the AI driven personalization
- Sitecore 9.3, announced, GA will be available in December, 2019
- Vision for SaaS, will be available in Summer 2020
- Helix 2.0, to increase adaption of Helix and Documentation.
- Improvements to SXA, the documentation is available for the OOTB components, Scriban, SXA & JSS improvements
Sitecore 9.3 is recently announced at the Sitecore Symposium. Though it is not publicaly available but you can expect it soon in December 2019. What you can expect from it?
- Upgraded the Sitecore Installation Assistant (SIA)
- Lucene is obsolete.
- Versioning for SXA will be mapped with Sitecore Versions.
- Horizon, soon will be available
- Install SOLR with SIA
You should have the version 2.2.0 for the SitecoreInstallationFramwrok. For that you need to Import the latest one and update it using the PowerShell with the following commands.
If you want to manually import it, just extract the latest package in the
C:\Program Files\WindowsPowerShell\Modules\SitecoreInstallFramework\2.2.0 and run this in PowerShell in Administrator mode.
Install-Module -Name SitecoreInstallFramework -RequiredVersion 2.2.0
If you run your setup directly, it will give error. To check the current version
SitecoreInstallatonFramework is using run this command.
Get-Command -Module SitecoreInstallFramework | Select-Object -Property name, version
I love doing the installations in a lazy way. You might want to see my blog about Sitecore 9.0.x installation, (Download, Install, Validate and Done). SIA is something like that, so I will use it for my installations.
setup.exe from your installation directory and Run it in Administrator Mode.
prerequisites I would go for it even if I have installed everything. It is always good to have the latest one required by the setup. Next!
The SIA is upgraded to install SOLR for you with the latest Sitecore 9.3. Isn’t it cool?
Put the desired port, service name, and installation path. Create the directory already if you don’t want the trouble. (Surprisingly the SOLR installation is fast using SIA)
Click Install! once done,Next!
Now you can put your instance name and password. Make sure you have a valid license available for the Sitecore 9.3 Installation. Next!
Put the server details, make it sure via SQL management studio to avoid errors. Next!
You will get the SOLR details pre-filled.
Validate your SOLR installation by browsing it in the Web Browser. Next!
You can now select the optional Modules, like SXA or any other Modules like JSS, etc. Next! (I am avoiding it for now)
It will show you the summary for all the inputs you had in the SIA for Sitecore 9.3 installation.
The best part is the validation. It will show you the validation for all the necessary files required for the installation. Next!
Now let the installation begin!
Now sit back and relax, you can even make a coffee meanwhile.
After waiting for a while, my Sitecore Installation completed. Surprisingly it is very fast compared to the previous installation setups.
And here is it, #success . Done!
Feel free, to use it and share your feedback if you find it useful. Cheers!
If you are wondering for the previous Sitecore Installations like 9.0 and 9.1, don’t forget to check my previous articles.
